Grateful people are happier, less depressed, less stressed, and more satisfied with their lives. Grateful people also have higher levels of control of their environments, personal growth, purpose in life, and self acceptance. Grateful people have more positive ways of coping with the difficulties they experience in life.
The longest lasting effects are caused by the act of writing “gratitude journals” every day, coupled with reviewing what you are grateful for, at the beginning of each day.

GRATITUDE - January 10, 2012
I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE TENACITY TO KEEP GETTING UP.
"Fall seven times, get up eight." Japanese Proverb
Success is getting up just one more time that you have fallen or have been knocked down in life. For those that are old enough to remember, people used to wear timepieces on their wrist (they were called watches) and there was long-running ad for one brand - TIMEX (run over by a car, dropped off a building, a child smashing in on the floor, etc): "Timex - it takes a licking, but keeps on ticking. That's me.
I rue the day that I just don't feel like getting up anymore. I do love the feeling of beating the devil in the hard-knock-life game. It is not a game you can win forever, but if you can take it into overtime - you win.
