GRATITUDE - May 8, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR BEING FINANCIALLY ABLE TO RETIRE.

'Life is a precious perishable commodity and we, regretfully all too often, fail to cherish those moments fully until we can actually count the grains of sand remaining in our personal hourglass."

Spent the evening with a pencil, paper, and the online Social Security calculator coming up with  some eye-opening numbers.  I am heading to the nearest social security office this week to double check my calculations, but...................

.........even though I will receive less per month over my lifetime (????? lucky to still be here writing this blog) as a result of retiring before my full retirement age of 66 (August 31, 2013), with my retirement check, plus an additional, significant monthly benefit for the next four years for having a child under the age of 18 (ha, and my friends thought I was crazy having a child at 51)..PLUS, I could work a few hours a week - if I wished _ earning up to an additional $1200/month, without negatively  impacting my retirement.....I just maybe would net more money if I retired now...like losing money by continuing to go to work...ha.  What is wrong with this picture....

...if my numbers pan out, I could start sailing to Aruba every other week like my sister does..........

just sayin'....
