GRATITUDE - August 16, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR THE LUCK OF A GOOD GARDEN THIS YEAR.

Got started late, but finally am reaping the bounty of our garden.   For some reason I have 3 tomato plants and 476 squash plants...all-inter-marrying between acorn squash, yellow squash and acorn squash...makes for some interesting progeny.

GRATITUDE -July 13, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR FRIENDS WITH BETTER GARDENS THAN MINE.

With all the stress and compacted tasks leading up to retirement and the big road trip (and 100 degree weather and no adequate watering system to the garden, other than me standing there with a hose) the past month or so...I did not get the garden planted in a timely manner.

But, my music teacher did.  Wonderful bounty...he could open a roadside vegetable stand.  This is my prize for being on time for my lesson last night.

GRATITUDE - June 24, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR TIME TO SPEND IN OUR GARDEN.

Working in the dirt, spreading chicken and steer manure (family rated blog) in the hot sun...gives one some 'alone time'.  Not many takers to hang out with you.

There is an inate sense of satisfaction that results when tender loving care, water, dirt and sun produces someting edible for your plate.

Retirement looming...more time in the garden.  A practice day this weekend...Got the automatic watering system set up for the gardem to cover the time gone on vacation.

Life is good.

GRATITUDE - June 9, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR A GREAT DAY IN MY GARDEN.

I am thankful for having enough energy to work the day in my backyard.  I have been working almost every available day (4 day weekends) on the rental houses and ignoring ours (although technically, they are all ours).  Put in about 8 hours today making up for lost time and cutting my way through the jungle....looks great.

There were days recently when I didn't have the energy to do much more than just sit and try to get my breath.  Today was a great day.

Herb garden is in full bloom.

Every day is a gift.
