GRATITUDE - January 12, 2012

...every day is a good day.

It has been years since I had a bad day.  Oh, I have had my share of bad things happen, but not enough to drown out the good parts of that day.  We do have the choice to accept  what each unique day brings us and apply its lessons (if we can see and be aware of them) to enhance our life.

I am a 64 year old middle class Caucasian male in Northern California, United States of America.
Sunset over Victoria Island harbor.

How can anything that happens to me take away from the fact that I am better off than 90% of the people on the face of the earth, simply by virtue of the status I just stated.

I have a place to live, a car that works, health insurance and hospital facilities at my disposal, a job that provides an adequate source of income, I take vacations regularly, etc.  All my friends and associates have access to  similar gifts.  It would be easy to take all that for granted and not be thankful for all the gifts that are in that basket.  For that opportunity, I am grateful each day.
