GRATITUDE - January 6, 2012

I AM GRATEFUL FOR HAVING ENOUGH TO EAT.

For many in middle-class America, the overriding issue is controlling what we eat, not finding something to eat.  Here I am in the well-lit, air-conditioned supermarket, reading labels to control the amount of fat, calories and sodium I will choose to buy and consume.  I am thankful I can make that choice and the circumstances that exist that allows me to do that.

Children don't choose to be born into abject poverty, living on dirt floors and sifting through garbage just to find something to eat. I am very lucky to have born to an intelligent, well educated mother in middle class America.  Think about that every once and a while.  We are all surrounded dally by hundreds of things and circumstances we would, could, should be thankful for.

"When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take
things for granted or take them with gratitude? - Gilbert K. Chesterton

VIDEO - think about it, we are very lucky.
